In 2007, First Congregational UCC acquired the adjacent property and named it the "Mason House of Hope" in memory of long-time member Dr. Donald Mason. Today, the Mason House is home to those who need temporary assistance. In the words of chaplain Gayle Fisher, "The Mason House of Hope is the best opportunity in Steuben County for [people] to turn their lives around from poor economic conditions, poor choices, and/or bad experiences life sometimes brings us."
During 2008 and 2009 the Mason House provided shelter to a father and his fourteen-year-old daughter, a young family with two small children, a single mother with three children, a single woman, and a mother who is reconciling with her young son. Some residents stay only a few weeks, while others require a longer stay.
The Mason House ministry recently welcomed a full-time resident house manager, Adam Garza. The house residents will be men who are working toward transitioning into independent living.
